Arabic version: فرقة رولينغ ستونز تطلق ألبومًا مشحونًا سياسيًا بعنوان ‘الألسن الأجنبية’
The Rolling Stones have launched their 25th album, ‘Foreign Tongues’, continuing their creative resurgence that began with 2023’s ‘Hackney Diamonds’. According to The Guardian, the album showcases a blend of stomping blues and politically charged lyrics, with Mick Jagger confronting issues of war and autocracy.
Mick Jagger emphasized the band’s versatility, stating, “The thing about this record is, the Stones are a rock band that also has the capacity to do ballads, country music or dance music.” The album captures the band’s distinctive sound while incorporating modern elements, reflecting their ongoing evolution.
The opening track, “Rough and Twisted,” pays homage to their Chicago blues roots, while songs like “Ringing Hollow” and “Covered in You” tackle contemporary political themes. Jagger’s lyrics express frustration with current global leaders, including a critique of “mad mogul Mr Musk” in the punk-inspired “Mr Charm”.
Despite the passing of drummer Charlie Watts five years ago, the band continues to deliver powerful music. The album features guest appearances from notable artists such as Paul McCartney and Bruno Mars, enhancing its appeal. ‘Foreign Tongues’ is recognized as a significant addition to their discography, marking a high point in their later years, alongside ‘Hackney Diamonds’.
