According to ABC News, the Sydney Roosters became the first team through to the NRLW grand final after defeating the Canberra Raiders 20-10 in their preliminary final at Sydney Football Stadium on Saturday night. The Roosters, who won all 11 regular-season games, will play either Gold Coast or Brisbane in next Sunday’s decider.

Sydney will contest a third consecutive NRLW grand final after leading 10-4 at half-time. Winger Jayme Fressard, returning after three matches out with a hand injury, scored in the left corner two minutes into the match after receiving a pass from captain Isabelle Kelly. Prop Rima Butler then scored after a penalty against Raiders fullback Sheridan Gallagher, with Jocelyn Kelleher converting for a 10-0 lead.

Canberra responded shortly before half-time through Krystal Blackwell. The five-eighth had briefly left the field to treat a bloody nose and returned in jersey No.25 before running through a gap created by halves partner Zahara Temara to score in the 32nd minute.

The Roosters extended their advantage when centre Jessica Sergis collected a swirling Kelleher kick that Raiders winger Isabella Waterman allowed to bounce. Sergis’s 17th try of the season made it 16-4. Canberra closed to 16-10 when Chante Temara sent England international Hollie-Mae Dodd through near the line, but halfback Tarryn Aiken secured the result with a late angled run to score. The Roosters are seeking to avenge their loss to the Broncos in the 2025 decider and add to premierships won in 2021 and 2024.
