South Sudan’s newly appointed Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Ramadan Goc, enters his role with great optimism and a strong commitment to revitalizing the ministry’s policies.
President Salva Kiir, presiding over the swearing-in ceremony for the newly appointed Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs on Monday, emphasized the importance of rebuilding the ministry’s policies and systems. He directed both the deputy and the minister to prioritize the establishment of effective systems to replace outdated policies within the ministry. The President acknowledged the serious crisis within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and urged the new deputy minister to exercise caution.
In his address, President Kiir expressed his intention to closely monitor the situation alongside the new deputy minister. He also announced directives aimed at addressing the issue of unpaid arrears in the country’s foreign missions, urging them to clear 27 months of outstanding debts across all embassies.
Deputy Minister Ramadan Goc assured the President of his dedication to working closely with his superior to develop a favorable foreign policy framework for the region. He pledged to diligently fulfill their responsibilities to foster positive relations with neighboring countries and extend South Sudan’s diplomatic outreach beyond the region.
Additionally, the Minister of Foreign Affairs delivered a notable speech during the oath ceremony at the state house. He emphasized the ministry’s commitment to implementing a significant strategy that would safeguard South Sudan’s foreign policy and rebuild strong diplomatic ties with other nations. Notably, the oath was administered by Deputy Chief Justice Hon. Gat Wech Lul, a rare occurrence in the country’s oath-taking ceremonies.
