South Sudan’s National Security Service has issued a serious warning against the illegal use and sale of NSS uniforms, saying anyone found misusing official security attire will face legal action.

According to the security body, the warning follows reports that some individuals have been selling and wearing National Security Service uniforms illegally, without authorisation or official knowledge. The NSS said it has been monitoring the situation and is concerned that the misuse of its uniforms could undermine the law and damage public trust in the institution.

The head of the NSS said the security institution has taken note of the matter, warning that anyone found wearing NSS uniforms without being a recognised member of the service will be dealt with according to the law. He added that the warning applies to everyone, including members of other security forces or soldiers who may be using the uniforms without proper authority.

The restrictions come as President Salva Kiir continues his tour of the Greater Bahr el Ghazal region, where he is spending several days in his home region. He was received by thousands of community members, who welcomed him with traditional dances and public gatherings.

NSS uniforms are widely recognised across South Sudan. However, the illegal sale and misuse of these uniforms has raised concerns about security, public confidence, and the credibility of the institution.

The National Security Service has urged the public to respect the law and avoid any unauthorised use of official security uniforms.
