Honorable Jemma Nunu Kumba, the Speaker of South Sudan’s Parliament, recently journeyed to Uganda to participate in a significant assembly of the Commonwealth Nations. This gathering, held in Kampala, Uganda, marks the 27th Commonwealth Speakers and Presiding Officers Conference. Kumba joins a prominent group of speakers from the East African bloc and other African nations, all converging to discuss critical issues pertaining to the Commonwealth community.
This notable conference aims to tackle the challenges faced by societies within the Commonwealth. It places a particular emphasis on trade interests, striving to create avenues for business professionals to operate more freely across borders. The event is a vital platform for dialogue and collaboration among member nations.
A remarkable turnout has been observed at the conference, with 33 speakers in attendance out of the 43 who initially confirmed their participation. The conference was inaugurated by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni at the Speke Resort Munyonyo, signifying a notable moment for the Commonwealth community’s ongoing collaborative efforts.
