Storm Dave is currently affecting parts of the UK, bringing what the Met Office describes as ‘disruptive and potentially damaging’ winds. The storm is expected to continue until 03:00 BST on Sunday, with an amber warning in place for northern England, north-west Wales, and southern Scotland. Heavy rain and snow are anticipated as the storm moves north-eastwards into Easter Sunday.

According to BBC News, the Met Office has warned of potential danger to life from flying debris and significant travel disruptions. Electricity operators have also indicated an increased risk of power cuts due to the storm’s impact.

Travelers over the Easter weekend are advised to be cautious, with potential disruptions reported across roads, ferry, rail, and air services. In western Scotland, some ferry services have already been canceled or amended. Snowfall of up to 30cm is expected in certain areas, and strong wind blizzards are likely to pose additional hazards.

In Northern Ireland, a yellow wind warning went into effect at 14:00 on Saturday, leading to the closure of some council facilities. Visitors are advised to avoid parks and nature reserves. National Highways in England has also recommended that travelers plan ahead and exercise extra caution, particularly on exposed routes.

As the storm continues its eastward path, it is expected to gradually lose intensity on Easter Sunday. However, strong winds will persist across Scotland, Northern Ireland, and northern England. Other regions may experience sunshine and showers, but cooler temperatures than those seen on Saturday are anticipated.
