Himyana Social Services is inviting the community to come together for a special evening celebrating eight years of service, connection and community, alongside the official launch of Threads of Belonging by Shalaa Shakir.
Taking place on Saturday, 24 October 2026, at Dandana Reception Hall in Liverpool, the celebration will recognise Himyana Social Services’ eight-year journey supporting people from diverse cultural backgrounds and strengthening connections across the community.
The evening will also mark the launch of Threads of Belonging, a book by Himyana Social Services CEO Shalaa Shakir that reflects on eight years of connection, care and community. Its message of different cultures coming together as one community sits at the heart of the celebration.
Guests can expect much more than a traditional book launch. The program will include an Acknowledgement of Country by Vivianne Dawalibi, a keynote address by Dor Akech Achiek, an address from Shalaa Shakir, an eighth anniversary cake celebration and certificate presentations.
A luxury dinner will follow the formal proceedings, with cultural music continuing into the evening, giving guests an opportunity to celebrate, connect and enjoy the occasion together.
For community members, supporters and anyone passionate about multiculturalism, belonging and community service, the event provides an opportunity to recognise the people and stories that have shaped Himyana Social Services over the past eight years while looking towards the organisation’s future.
