According to BBC News, Wolverhampton Wanderers right-back Kieran Trippier suffered a medial collateral ligament injury in his left knee during Friday’s 2-2 league draw with Blackburn Rovers.

The former England international sustained the injury on his league debut for Wolves. The 35-year-old, who signed a two-year deal at Molineux in June after arriving on a free transfer, is expected to be out for “a number of weeks”.

Wolves also confirmed defender Yerson Mosquera will miss several weeks after suffering a slight tear in his ankle ligaments against Blackburn. Mosquera is 25.

There was more positive news for winger Rafiki Said. The 26-year-old summer signing suffered a “high-grade” MCL injury in a pre-season friendly against Maidenhead United last month, 11 days after joining the club. Director of performance Phil Hayward said Said is now out of his brace and that his most recent scan “looks great”.

Hayward also said goalkeeper Sam Johnstone was a week away from full fitness. Haiti international midfielder Jean-Ricner Bellegarde is expected to be another couple of weeks from returning to first-team training.
