A man and a woman have been charged in connection with the death of Shanice Brookes, a 30-year-old mother, outside a bar in Sheffield. According to BBC News, Brookes was an innocent bystander enjoying a night out when she was shot outside One Four One on West Street at about 02:45 BST on Monday.
Brookes was found with serious injuries and later died in hospital. South Yorkshire Police confirmed that she was a local charity worker and emphasized her status as an innocent victim of the incident.
Jemele Rhone, 30, of Outram Road, Sheffield, has been charged with murder, while Deiryen Dyce, 32, of Ellesmere Road North, Sheffield, has been charged with assisting an offender. Both were charged on Thursday night and remanded into custody, and they are due to appear at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court soon. Additionally, Rhone faces charges related to possession of a firearm and possession of criminal property, while Dyce is charged with possession of ammunition, possession of drugs with intent to supply, and possession of criminal property.
A third individual, a 30-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murder, has since been released and is no longer considered a suspect. Detectives have expressed their condolences to Brookes’ family, highlighting the tragic loss they now face.
