A new United Nations Human Rights Office report says Israel’s military campaign and blockade of Gaza have created living conditions “increasingly incompatible with Palestinians’ continued existence as a group in Gaza” as it presses its genocidal war on the enclave. The report details how intensified attacks, destruction of neighborhoods, and denial of humanitarian aid are creating conditions that threaten the survival of Palestinians in the region. According to Al Jazeera, the findings indicate a systematic approach to altering the demographic makeup of Gaza and the West Bank.

The report, covering the period from November 1, 2024 to October 31, 2025, highlights the unlawful use of force by Israeli security forces in the occupied territories. It notes widespread arbitrary detentions and extensive demolitions of Palestinian homes, which are perceived as efforts to control and dominate the Palestinian population. This systematic discrimination is raising alarm over the potential for ethnic cleansing in these areas.

In Gaza, the situation has reached a critical point, with reports of unprecedented civilian casualties and famine. The UN report indicates that at least 463 Palestinians, including 157 children, starved to death during the year, attributing these deaths to actions taken by the Israeli government. The ongoing military operations have left civilians facing a dire choice between starvation and the risk of being killed while seeking food.

As the holy month of Ramadan begins, Israeli airstrikes and artillery attacks continue to ravage Gaza, with fresh assaults reported across various locations. This escalation has resulted in significant casualties, with Gaza’s Ministry of Health reporting 603 deaths and 1,618 injuries due to ongoing violence since the ceasefire began on October 10, 2025. The humanitarian crisis is deepening as families attempt to observe Ramadan amidst continuous bombardment.

The violence is not confined to Gaza; the occupied West Bank is also experiencing increased tensions. Recent incidents include the death of 19-year-old Nasrallah Mohammad Jamal Abu Siam following a settler attack, raising the death toll from settler violence to 37 since October 7, 2023. Activists have described these events as a dangerous escalation of organized violence against Palestinians, exacerbated by a perceived collaboration between settlers and Israeli forces.

As the situation unfolds, the international community is closely monitoring developments in both Gaza and the West Bank. The UN’s alarming findings underscore the urgent need for intervention to address the escalating violence and humanitarian crisis affecting Palestinian communities.
