Rydalmere residents now have a safer, modern and accessible connection over Ponds Creek with a brand-new pedestrian footbridge at Upjohn Park now open.

The $300,000 project replaces the old, timber bridge at the northern end of the park with a new steel bridge after the existing structure reached its lifespan.

City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Martin Zaiter said the project restores an important link for the community and improves the overall park experience.

“Upjohn Park is a much-loved local recreational space, and this upgrade has made it easier for people to walk, connect and enjoy the outdoors,” Cr Zaiter said.

“The new footbridge improves access for people on the northern end of the park and is part of Council’s ongoing investment in maintaining safe, high-quality public infrastructure in our community.

“By replacing the old bridge with a new, longer-lasting structure, this project has delivered an important improvement for the community, and we thank residents for their patience while the work was carried out.”
