Arabic version: السفارة الأمريكية تسمح لموظفيها غير الطارئين بمغادرة إسرائيل
The US embassy in Israel has informed some non-emergency staff that they are permitted to leave the country due to increased concerns regarding potential conflict with Iran. According to BBC News, this announcement follows recent talks between Washington and Tehran, which were viewed as a final effort to prevent war over Iran’s nuclear program.
US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee sent an email to embassy staff advising those who wish to leave to do so TODAY. He emphasized that while there was no immediate cause for alarm, it was prudent for those considering departure to make arrangements quickly.
This decision by the US embassy comes shortly after the US government ordered non-essential personnel to exit its embassy in Beirut, Lebanon, following a security assessment. Additionally, several countries, including China, India, and Canada, have urged their citizens to leave Iran promptly due to escalating threats of hostilities.
US President Donald Trump has indicated that military action against Tehran could be on the table if a satisfactory deal concerning Iran’s nuclear activities is not reached. He has also initiated the most significant military buildup in the Middle East since the 2003 invasion of Iraq. Meanwhile, Iran has vowed to respond forcefully to any attack. Recent indirect negotiations in Geneva reportedly yielded significant progress, with further discussions anticipated soon.
