At least 34 people have been killed, including six children, in widespread attacks across Iran by the United States and Israel. The strikes, which took place on April 4, 2026, targeted various locations, including the Shahid Beheshti University and residential areas, following a deadline set by US President Donald Trump for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

According to Al Jazeera, an air attack in Baharestan County resulted in the deaths of 23 individuals, including four girls and two boys aged below 10 years. Further casualties were reported in Qom, where five people died, and in Bandar-e Lengeh, where six were killed.

The strikes have affected at least a dozen cities across Iran, including Bandar Abbas, Ahvaz, and Shiraz. The Sharif University in Tehran, a leading scientific institution, suffered extensive damage, particularly to its mosque and laboratories. Reports indicate that at least 30 universities in Iran have been targeted since the conflict began on February 28.

In response to the attacks, Iranian officials have vowed to retaliate, condemning Trump’s remarks as incitements to war crimes. Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that the nation will not be coerced into unfavorable deals and warned of similar counterattacks in the region.

The ongoing conflict has escalated tensions, with missile attacks reported in Israel as well, resulting in casualties and damage in several cities, including Tel Aviv and Haifa. Rescue workers have been active in recovering victims from the rubble of buildings struck by Iranian missiles, highlighting the conflict’s growing impact on both nations.
