A new aquatic and leisure centre, recreation facilities and community hub have been earmarked in the Epping Community Infrastructure Analysis (ECIA), which is set to guide future decisions on major community infrastructure for the Epping community.

West Epping Park and Cox Park have been identified as potential future locations for the aquatic centre with the Rawson Street carpark being a potential site for a community hub, including an expanded library.

City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Martin Zaiter said Council has now completed an analysis of infrastructure required to support the City’s bold vision to revitalise Epping’s western precinct through the Epping Town Centre Master Plan.

“We committed to getting this right for our ratepayers and the Epping community and this analysis is intended to ensure that future investment in Epping reflects the community’s needs both now and in the future,” Cr Zaiter said.

“The next stage will be the preparation of concept designs, business cases and detailed feasibility studies to support the delivery of these long-term facilities.”

Council intends on reopening the existing Dence Park pool in the short to medium-term, which would include refurbishing the 50m and toddler pools, fresh internal paint and minor external works, subject to securing funding from the State Government.

Once a permanent aquatic centre is built at a new location, Dence Park will be retained as public open space with plans to revitalise the park as an outdoor recreational precinct including youth-focused infrastructure such as a skate facility, outdoor courts and rehabilitating the old pool area into a green space.

Cr Zaiter said Dence Park is much-loved by the community and Council is committed to retaining it as an community space for everyone to enjoy.
