According to The Guardian, NSW Waratahs defeated Fijian Drua 34-17 in the 2026 Super Rugby Women’s grand final at Four R Stadium in Ba, Fiji, securing a third consecutive title and a record-extending seventh Super W crown. It was the first Super W final held in Fiji and the third championship decider between the two teams, who had previously won one each.
NSW scored the first four tries and led 24-0 10 minutes into the second half. The Waratahs finished with six tries to the Drua’s three after producing a stronger opening hour in a fast-paced contest. Fijian Drua made several mistakes, including six lost lineout throws, while NSW moved the ball effectively to build control of the final.
Winger Maya Stewart opened the scoring in the 19th minute after quick passing broke through the Drua defence. She then helped create the second try for fellow Wallaroo Miller. Faliki Pohiva, the Wallaroos prop named player of the final, crossed after the interval, before centre Rose Ferguson completed a multi-pass move with a dummy through the defence.
Flanker Nunia Daunimoala scored the Drua’s first try, but replacement back Amelia Whitaker crossed twice in the following eight minutes to blunt the hosts’ comeback. Daunimoala added a second try and No 8 Sulita Waisega also crossed as the Drua continued to fight until the end.
Waratahs captain Emily Chancellor said the team had responded after being written off following losses to Queensland Reds and Western Force in their final two round-robin matches. NSW had beaten the Force in the semi-finals. The Waratahs will next play the winner of New Zealand’s Super Rugby Aupiki final between the Blues and Matatu in the Super Rugby Champions final.
