The World Lebanese Cultural Union has announced two significant leadership appointments, marking an important step in strengthening its global organisational structure and engagement with the Lebanese diaspora.
In official decisions issued by the Union’s President, Dr Abraham Constantin, dated 31 March 2026 in Beirut, Aya Hamdar has been appointed as Advisor to the President for Women’s Affairs, while Remy Wehbe has been appointed as Vice President for Presidential Affairs within the Administrative Board.
These appointments follow the outcomes of the Union’s 20th World Congress held on 12 December 2025 and are aligned with the organisation’s constitutional framework and strategic direction.
Recognition of Leadership and Contribution
The appointments have been widely welcomed across the Union’s global network. In a formal statement, the Oceania Continental Council of the World Lebanese Cultural Union extended its heartfelt congratulations to both Aya Hamdar and Remy Wehbe.
The Council highlighted that these roles reflect “a well-deserved recognition of competence, dedication, and ongoing contributions to expatriate work,” emphasising the trust placed in both leaders to help advance the Union’s mission.
Strengthening the Role of the Diaspora
Aya Hamdar’s appointment as Advisor for Women’s Affairs underscores the Union’s commitment to empowering women and enhancing their role within the global Lebanese community. Her position is expected to contribute to stronger representation, advocacy, and initiatives focused on women across the diaspora.
Meanwhile, Remy Wehbe’s appointment to Vice President for Presidential Affairs signals a strategic move to reinforce governance, coordination, and institutional effectiveness within the organisation’s leadership structure.

The Oceania Council expressed strong confidence in both appointees, noting their ability to contribute meaningfully to strengthening institutional work and enhancing the Union’s global impact.
Led by President of the Oceania Continental Council, Engineer Badwi El Hage, and Secretary-General Dr Imad Berro, the statement reaffirmed support for the new leadership and their role in serving Lebanon and Lebanese communities worldwide.
