Today the Fair Work Commission announced their decision on the Annual Wage Review and a pay increase for almost 3 million workers.
A recent poll by the Centre for Future Work has found that 83% of Australians support pay increases that at least keep up with inflation.

We all know that the increasing cost-of-living – especially grocery and utility bills – are a massive problem for too many people. This has been compounded by almost a decade of low or no wage-growth under the previous government.

This is why the Australian union movement has been pushing for a 5.5% increase through the Annual Wage Review.

Our claim to the Annual Wage Review would cost less than 1 per cent of corporate profits. And importantly, a 5.5% increase would prevent further real wage cuts for a quarter of all working people.

It’s everyday people like you – people power – who will make sure we build a better, fairer society, and an economy that supports working people and our communities. That starts with ensuring workers have decent wages.
