Arabic version: إنقاذ طفل فنزويلي بعد ستة أيام تحت الأنقاض
The aunt of a two-year-old boy, Kleiber Moran, who was rescued after spending six days under rubble in Venezuela, expressed her joy at their reunion and her hopes for the boy’s parents. According to BBC News, Kleiber was saved by Jordanian rescuers in La Guaira state, following two major earthquakes that struck the region.
Andreína Sarmiento, Kleiber’s aunt, shared her emotional experience of learning about his rescue, stating that she fell to the floor in disbelief and rushed to meet him. At the hospital in Caracas, she vowed to care for Kleiber with a mother’s warmth until his mother, Ana Luz, is found. “I’m praying a lot to God to give me strength because he is only two years old and I am not a mother,” she said.
Upon their reunion, Kleiber recognized Andreína and called her “Auntie.” Initially in shock, he has since stabilized and is recovering well, with only minor scratches. Andreína described him as playful, pushing a small car around his hospital bed, wrapped in a Spiderman blanket.
Despite her joy, Andreína is heartbroken over the continued absence of her sister and brother-in-law. She emphasized their close relationship, noting that they communicated daily. She remains hopeful, expressing faith that her sister and brother-in-law will also be found, saying, “Just as they found my nephew, I have faith that they are going to find my sister and my brother-in-law.”
