Arabic version: كيمي أنتونيللي يتفوق على لويس هاميلتون في سباق سيلفرستون
Kimi Antonelli of Mercedes secured a thrilling victory in the sprint race at the British Grand Prix, overtaking Lewis Hamilton on the Hangar Straight. The race, held at Silverstone, showcased intense competition, particularly among the leading drivers.
According to BBC News, while McLaren’s Lando Norris, George Russell from Mercedes, and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen engaged in a fierce battle for position in the early laps, Antonelli strategically conserved his battery charge before making his move on Hamilton. The 19-year-old Italian executed a well-timed pass on lap eight, extending his championship lead to 43 points over Russell.
Antonelli expressed his enjoyment of the race, stating, “It was a very fun first 10 laps with Lewis. We were both pushing very hard. When I got into overtake (mode), I knew my chance was coming.” Hamilton acknowledged the challenge of keeping pace with Antonelli, citing the windy conditions that affected his performance.
Behind the leaders, Norris demonstrated impressive skill, moving from sixth to fourth place on the first lap and later overtaking Russell for third. Norris described the race as a very good experience, highlighting his strong start and competitive battles throughout the event.
Russell managed to reclaim a position by passing Verstappen on lap nine, while Verstappen ultimately fell back, finishing in sixth place after being overtaken by Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc. Liam Lawson from Racing Bulls secured the final points positions, holding off Isack Hadjar in the closing laps.
The main grand prix qualifying session is scheduled for Saturday at 16:00 BST, promising more excitement for fans of Formula 1.
