Torit, 12 July 2026 – The Eastern Equatoria State Security Forces, with support from the Monyemiji of Hiyala Village, have apprehended two suspects believed to be connected to the ambush on the Advisor’s vehicle on the evening of Friday, 10 July 2026.

The suspects have been identified as Oyom Emmanuel Ikuyong and Wani Simon Mariko. During the security operation, a third suspect reportedly died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound while inside a house where he had taken refuge.

The State Government commended the professionalism and cooperation demonstrated by the security forces and the Monyemiji of Hiyala Village, whose support contributed significantly to the success of the operation.

The Government also expressed concern over increasing reports of criminal elements operating in parts of Hiyala Payam. It urged residents to cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspected criminal activity and warned that anyone found harboring or assisting criminals will be dealt with in accordance with the law.

The Government reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace, security, and the rule of law across Eastern Equatoria State.
