According to Al Jazeera, former Colombian President Gustavo Petro said restoring diplomatic ties with Israel while Benjamin Netanyahu remains in power “applauds the Gaza genocide.”

Colombia’s new right-wing government restored relations with Israel, Al Jazeera reported.

The move comes two years after Petro severed diplomatic relations with Israel.

Petro’s comments focused on the return to ties during Netanyahu’s time in power.
