According to BBC News, Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea are among clubs checking on Freiburg’s Croatian striker Igor Matanovic. The 23-year-old is the subject of growing interest, while Juventus want Liverpool’s 19-year-old defender Giovanni Leoni as they seek to increase the number of Italian players in their squad.

Newcastle United are reportedly open to allowing English midfielder Joe Willock, 27, to leave in the January transfer window. His contract is due to expire in the summer and he has yet to begin talks over a new deal. Tottenham, meanwhile, have no plans to sell Netherlands defender Micky van de Ven, 25, despite Liverpool preparing a move for him next year.

AC Milan are considering Brighton’s Swedish midfielder Yasin Ayari, 22, as a potential replacement for Luka Modric if the 41-year-old Croatia international decides to retire. Brighton and Bournemouth have also sent scouts to Medellin to watch Atletico Nacional’s Colombian centre-back Neider Parra, 21. Brighton chief executive Paul Barber has plans in place should bigger clubs target the team’s leading performers.

Elsewhere, Brentford goalkeeper Hakon Rafn Valdimarsson, 24, would consider leaving if his first-team opportunities remain limited. Roma want to take Brazil striker Endrick, 20, on loan from Real Madrid in January, with the player keen on more game time. Barcelona’s Raphinha, 29, plus 19-year-olds Xavi Espart and Marc Bernal, are all in line for new contracts.
