According to Al Jazeera, Israeli forces arrested 36 Palestinians during raids across the occupied West Bank as attacks targeting Palestinian farmers and their land increased during the olive harvest season.

In the Jenin governorate, Israeli forces raided towns and villages on Thursday and arrested 10 Palestinians, the Palestinian news agency Wafa reported, citing Palestinian Prisoner’s Society data. In the Hebron governorate, forces raided Tuqu and arrested former prisoner Shorok al-Badan, along with five others from other parts of Hebron, Wafa said.

The Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission said Israeli forces arrested 14 people in Khirbet Jawaya, a village in Masafer Yatta in Hebron. Wafa, citing a security source, reported three further arrests across the governorate. Three more Palestinians were arrested in raids in Burin and Awarta in the Nablus area and the Qalandiya refugee camp near Jerusalem.

The commission said it documented 17 pogroms on Thursday by Israeli forces and settlers against Palestinian farmers and their land. The incidents were recorded in Hebron, Qalqilya, Nablus, Ramallah and el-Bireh, Jenin and Salfit.

It said the reported attacks included assaults on farmers, blocking access to land, theft of crops and agricultural equipment, damage and burning of olive trees, arrests, threats at gunpoint and live fire. The commission said the pattern escalates pressure on the olive harvest and undermines Palestinians’ ability to access and cultivate their land and sustain their livelihoods. US Democratic congressional candidate Brad Lander was briefly detained by the Israeli military on Wednesday while volunteering with Palestinian olive farmers.
