Arabic version: توجيه تهمة إلى رجل على خلفية مضايقة مزعومة لرئيسة برلمان جنوب أستراليا
According to ABC News, South Australian Police have arrested and charged a man over alleged online harassment of a member of parliament, understood to be South Australian House of Assembly Speaker Nat Cook.
Police said they attended the home of a 33-year-old man in Reynella East on Friday. He was arrested and charged with stalking and harassment.
In a statement, police said they would allege the man breached a caution issued earlier this year by posting “numerous times on social media about the person”. The man was bailed and is due to appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on December 7.
The man is understood to be southern suburbs activist Luke Poulton, who posted time-stamped CCTV footage of an arrest at his property on Facebook and Instagram pages he operates. ABC News reported that Mr Poulton declined a request for comment and did not permit the outlet to share the arrest footage.
In a Facebook post, Mr Poulton criticised police handling of his arrest. He wrote that the material prompting it related to “3 facebook posts including a video montage showing people involved in bullying myself and my family”.
