ABC continues to cover Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

The ABC’s coverage of the Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will continue over the weekend following her death at the age of 96.

The ABC will keep audiences informed through coverage of events at home and in the UK and will celebrate the life of our longest serving monarch with special content across our platforms.

ABC Programming Friday 9, Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 September

ABC News

Across the weekend, ABC News will feature live continuous coverage of events in the UK, at home and around the world.

On Friday, at 7pm AEST a two hour national 7pm News Special hosted by Sarah Ferguson and David Speers will cover the events of the day and reflect on the life and reign of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

The special will include packages and archival footage from Australia, the UK and around the world celebrating the life and legacy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The program will also feature commentary from ABC Chair Ita Buttrose as well as royal expert Juliet Rieden and others.

On the evening of Saturday 10 September the ABC will provide live coverage of the accession of King Charles III.

ABC TV

On Friday 9 and Saturday 10 September, ABC TV will continue rolling news coverage following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

On Sunday, special programming on ABC TV will celebrate the life and legacy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II culminating in The Queen and Us, a fond recollection celebrating the remarkable life of Queen Elizabeth II through Australian eyes. The Queen and Us airs on ABC TV on Sunday 11 September at 7.40pm AEST.

ABC TV Plus

On Saturday 10 September, ABC TV Plus will air BBC special A Tribute to her Majesty The Queen featuring special interviews with her children and those who have worked with her and public figures. at 7.30pm AEST.

ABC Radio

ABC radio will continue to update audiences across the weekend as part of our normal programming.

Audio from our coverage of Her Majesty’s death can be listened to on demand via the ABC listen app.
