With a mix of returning audience favourites and fresh new voices, ABC Radio Adelaide is excited to announce the station’s line up for 2024.
Sonya and Jules will set the tone for the day as they present Breakfast in 2024. The pair are set to build on the well-established on-air chemistry audiences have come to love through their Sonya and Jules Off the Cuff segment.
David Bevan will continue on Mornings and following 2 years in Breakfast, Nikolai Beilharz will be moving to the other end of the day in Afternoons.
Experienced broadcaster Jo Laverty will present Drive after making the move to Adelaide from the top end where she has been presenting Breakfast on ABC Radio Darwin since 2019.
Jo Laverty has been with the ABC for more than 20 years. She cut her teeth with triple j before moving to ABC Local Radio in Canberra. Jo said she is excited to make the move to Adelaide.
“My yearning to live in South Australia began at 8 years old when my grandparents moved to the Adelaide Hills. I’d regularly ask Mum and Dad if we could move to Adelaide, the answer always being ‘if we win the lotto’. Well, I’ve finally won the lotto. I can’t wait to make great radio in a city I have always loved.”
Following the announcement that Peter Goers is retiring at the end of the year, ABC Radio Adelaide welcomes Jason Chong as our new Evenings presenter in 2024.
Jason Chong is a well-known Adelaide comic and radio presenter who has filled in on ABC Radio Adelaide on Afternoons, Drive Weekends and Evenings.
Jason’s work in radio began in 2005, presenting NOVA 919’s Nights. He served as a correspondent on SAFM’s Breakfast from 2008 and has hosted the Adelaide Comedy podcast. In recent years he’s been a regular guest and backfill presenter on Drive with good mate Jules Schiller.
“For the past year I’ve had the opportunity to watch and listen to Goers the master at work. I want to bring that same warmth and intelligence to the dedicated nighttime audience. When I heard Peter was retiring, I thought you’d have to be very brave or stupid to step into his shoes. Perhaps I’m both? I’m sure Mrs Calabash will let me know.”
In 2024, Deb Tribe will continue to present SA Weekends on Saturday mornings and in news sure to delight audiences, Spence Denny returns to ABC Radio Adelaide to present the Sunday Mornings program.
ABC Radio Adelaide Manager Graeme Bennett said: “The Adelaide line up for 2024 is stacked with a crop of incredible broadcasters and a mix of well-known voices and new talent. I’m excited for audiences to get to know our new presenters and hear some familiar voices in exciting new roles.”
