According to BBC News, Aberdeen supporters voiced their frustration after Saturday’s goalless Scottish Premiership draw with Kilmarnock, their fourth consecutive league match without a goal. Head coach Stephen Robinson was met with boos and jeers following a result that left the club with four points from five opening league games.

Aberdeen have won once and scored twice in the league, fewer goals than any other team. Their expected-goals total is 5.2, the third-lowest in the division, while no side has recorded fewer shots on target. Only Falkirk have created fewer big chances.

Robinson described his team as “tired” and “lethargic” after the draw, citing two difficult matches and travel. He said Aberdeen made “tired decisions”, took too many touches and played too many passes backwards. Former Aberdeen defender Richard Foster said the side looked easy to play against, slow in build-up and short of a consistent goal threat.

The match also raised questions over Robinson’s preferred line-up and system. He made three changes at half-time, including a change of shape and the withdrawal of captain Kevin Nisbet. Nisbet has scored 10 goals in 10 games when League Cup group matches are included, accounting for more than 60% of Aberdeen’s goals this season.

Foster said Robinson was trying to find a solution but had not settled on the best formation or style for the group. Fans responding to the result questioned the manager’s explanation for the display and criticised the team’s lack of quality, urgency and shape.
