According to ABC News, a South Australian man has been charged after allegedly posting threatening messages online directed at the Australian Federal Police. The alleged messages were posted on social media and targeted the agency, police said.

The AFP received information about the alleged posts earlier this year. Police linked the posts to a 40-year-old man before executing a search warrant at an Adelaide home on Thursday.

A mobile phone was found and seized during the search. Police alleged the device contained messages posted over several months from social media accounts linked to the man.

The Adelaide man faces one count of using a carriage service to menace, harass or cause offence. He was granted police bail and is expected to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court in September.
