On Friday, 14 March 2025, the Australia Federation of Islamic Councils (AFIC) hosted a grand Ramadan Iftar at Renaissance Weddings & Events in Lidcombe, bringing together a diverse gathering of community leaders, religious scholars, and dignitaries. The event, led by AFIC President Dr Rateb Jneid and the National Grand Mufti of Australia, Sheikh Riad El-Rifai, was a testament to the spirit of inclusion and unity that defines Ramadan.

Oz Arab Media was proudly represented at the event by Dr. Charbel Tadros, who engaged with attendees, capturing the essence of the night and its significance for the Australian Muslim community. The Iftar provided an opportunity for dialogue and connection, fostering a greater understanding of the values of Ramadan and the importance of multicultural collaboration.

As guests arrived, the evening commenced with warm greetings and reflections on the meaning of fasting and spiritual renewal. Dr Rateb Jneid addressed the gathering, emphasising the importance of compassion and social cohesion in today’s society. Sheikh Riad El-Rifai followed with a powerful message on faith and generosity, reinforcing the shared values that bind communities together. This was followed by a short speech by the Hon Philip Ruddock AO, Mayor of Hornsby Shire.

The breaking of the fast was a moment of collective gratitude, with guests enjoying a traditional meal in an atmosphere of warmth and hospitality. Representatives from various cultural and religious organisations attended, highlighting the Iftar’s role in strengthening interfaith relationships and fostering a spirit of unity across diverse backgrounds.

The AFIC Ramadan Iftar once again proved to be more than just a meal—it was a celebration of faith, resilience, and the power of community. With Ramadan serving as a time for reflection and charity, this gathering reinforced the importance of coming together to support and uplift one another in the spirit of harmony.
