According to ABC News, Western Australia will host South Australia in the AFL’s 2027 State of Origin match at Perth Stadium on Saturday, February 27. The game is scheduled to start at 4:40pm local time in Perth, which is 7:10pm ACDT and 7:40pm AEDT.

The fixture will mark South Australia’s first State of Origin appearance in 28 years. Western Australia and South Australia have not played each other in the format since 1998.

The match also coincides with the 150th anniversary of the SANFL competition. South Australia will replace Victoria in the 2027 edition after State of Origin returned in 2026, when Victoria defeated Western Australia by 36 points in Perth.

AFL chief executive Andrew Dillon said the league was “thrilled” to confirm the date and described the contest as a renewal of one of football’s great rivalries. He said Perth Stadium had provided an “incredible stage” for the format’s return and that fans could celebrate the history, rivalry and spectacle of AFL Origin. Western Australia and Victoria are set to meet again in 2028.
