As always dedicated to bringing joy to Egypt’s children, and in an atmosphere full of cheer and shared spirit, Aladdin magazine organized a recreational day for children and their families in collaboration with Club Masr Insurance in Mokattam. The event was held under the patronage of veteran journalist Hussein Al-Zanati, editor-in-chief of the magazine, deputy editor-in-chief of Al-Ahram, and first deputy of the Journalists’ Syndicate, and supervised by Sahar Mahmoud, the managing editor. This activity is part of the summer initiative “In Summer… Aladdin Everywhere,” through which the magazine continues to reach children in various clubs, believing that art and culture are rights for every child.
The day began with a drawing and coloring workshop led by the magazine’s artist-journalists Sherif Mansour and Hind Al-Reis. Once the children gathered around the tables, blank sheets quickly filled with color, turning within minutes into playful characters, landscapes, and imaginative scenes. The instructors moved gently among the children, offering kindly feedback and encouraging each child to draw in their own way without imposing any specific idea or color. The pages filled with beloved magazine characters such as Aladdin, Marjan, and Shaqawa, alongside painted landscapes, pets, and other creations that revealed promising talents and distinctive touches.
The workshop went beyond teaching basic drawing and coloring skills; it became an open space for discovering talent. Many works bore special marks that reflected wide imagination and a budding artistic sensibility. The instructors made a point of celebrating every piece, however simple, so each child would feel that their painting deserved to be shown and proud.
One of the most touching scenes was parents joining their children in the creative moments: a mother helping her little girl choose colors, a father snapping a photo of his child finishing their first painting. The hall felt like a family studio where everyone gathered around the joy of art, giving the children extra confidence and enthusiasm.
When the workshop ended, the children left carrying their drawings and wearing smiles as bright as the colors on their pages. Their works became a keepsake of a special day in which they discovered that imagination can begin on a blank sheet and that every color they choose tells part of who they are.
