According to ABC News, a 28-year-old relative of the Alameddine crime family is fighting for life after being shot at a home in Guildford, in Sydney’s west.
Police were called to the property at about 7:40pm on Saturday following reports the man had suffered gunshot wounds to his back. Several men allegedly entered the home, shot him and fled in a white SUV.
Paramedics treated the man at the scene before he was taken to hospital, where he remains in a critical condition. Sources told the ABC he is a relative of the Alameddine crime family.
The Alameddines operate a crime network in Western Sydney and have been involved in tit-for-tat violence with other gangs over the past year. Senior members, including Rafat Alameddine, fled Australia in 2023 and remain in hiding in Lebanon.
ABC News reported the shooting could reignite tensions with gangland rivals. A car on the same street was firebombed this year during a feud involving the self-proclaimed “Coconut Cartel”, though the attackers targeted the wrong property and burned an innocent neighbour’s car on January 21.
