According to ABC News, Allan John Hopkins, 47, has been arrested and extradited from New South Wales to South Australia over further alleged child sexual offences.

Hopkins had been wanted in South Australia over allegations of serious sexual offending against a person under 18 after leaving the state in 2024. He was arrested in New South Wales in May 2024 following a police appeal for information about his whereabouts.

Court documents obtained by ABC News state that prosecutors sought his transfer to South Australia during a New South Wales court appearance on Monday. The documents said he would be held at Broken Hill Police Station until being taken into South Australian Police custody and transported to the Adelaide City Watchhouse.

South Australia Police confirmed that a 47-year-old man had been arrested and was being extradited from New South Wales, but said no further information was available for operational reasons. ABC News understood Hopkins left Broken Hill around midday on Monday.

Hopkins pleaded guilty to raping a 10-year-old girl in 2010. He had previously received a prison sentence of more than 10 years after pleading guilty to abducting a 10-year-old girl from her Adelaide northern suburbs home and raping her in 2007. He is due to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
