Arabic version: المحللون يدعون أن ضربات ترامب في إيران تصب في مصلحة إسرائيل على حساب مصالح الولايات المتحدة
According to Al Jazeera,
Recent military actions against Iran have sparked debate about their true beneficiaries. Analysts suggest that President Donald Trump’s strikes are more advantageous to Israel than to the United States. This perspective was highlighted by experts in a report from Al Jazeera, which noted the longstanding relationship between the U.S. and Israeli military strategies.
Trump’s rhetoric has shifted dramatically since his earlier stance against interventionist policies. He has now ordered an extensive military campaign in Iran, claiming it aims to bring freedom to the nation. However, critics argue that this contradicts his previous assertions against regime-change wars, labeling the current conflict as one that primarily serves Israeli interests.
Negar Mortazavi, a senior fellow at the Center for International Policy, emphasized that the U.S. is engaging in a war that Israel has sought for two decades. This aligns with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s warnings about Iran’s nuclear ambitions, despite Iran’s denials and a lack of evidence to support these claims.
The recent conflict has escalated tensions in the region, with Iran retaliating against U.S. bases following the strikes. Public opinion in the U.S. remains largely opposed to new military engagements, reflecting a wariness stemming from previous conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. Only 21 percent of respondents in a recent University of Maryland survey said they favored a war with Iran, indicating a disconnect between political leadership and public sentiment.
As the situation develops, many critics, including Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, argue that Trump’s actions disregard the majority of American voices that oppose further military interventions. They contend that the current strategy aligns more with the interests of Israeli leadership than with American national security objectives.
