According to Cnbc, Anthropic is viewed on prediction market platform Kalshi as the only major company still likely to officially announce an initial public offering in 2026. Anthropic confidentially filed a prospectus with the Securities and Exchange Commission in early June.

Of the 23 companies listed in Kalshi’s market that remain open to trade, Anthropic was the only one with odds above 50% to officially announce an IPO this year. Its odds stood at 75% as of Monday morning. Kalshi defines an official announcement through an SEC declaration that a company’s S-1 is effective, IPO pricing, or an exchange assigning a stock ticker.

Other anticipated listings have seen their odds fall during 2026. Plaid, which traders gave a 50% chance of going public in January, was at 10%. Deel’s chances declined from 50-50 odds in February to 3%, while Databricks stood at 1% after having odds above 50% in January.

OpenAI, Anthropic’s chief rival, had a 3% chance of going public after CEO Sam Altman said last month that a listing did not make sense because of concerns over AI safety. Traders put the chance of OpenAI making an official IPO announcement by June 2027 at 50-50.

IPO postponements have increased across sectors. Although proceeds this year have risen sharply, helped by major debuts including SpaceX in June, the number of U.S. IPOs priced was down 33% from 2025, according to Renaissance Capital. Questions around Anthropic’s growth also emerged after it reported $16.8 billion in third-quarter revenue, with weaker quarter-over-quarter growth than in past periods.
