Aroona Station in the Northern Territory has been sold for $44 million to Cross Pacific Investments, a company backed by the Buratovich family from Argentina. This acquisition marks a significant expansion for the family in the Australian cattle industry, with Aroona being their fifth property purchase in the region.

The sale, which took place on March 10, includes the 147,510-hectare property, equipment, and about 15,000 head of cattle. According to ABC News, the Buratovich family has a deep agricultural history and operates major broadacre cropping businesses across South America and the United States.

Aroona Station, located about 90 kilometers south-west of Katherine along the Victoria Highway, is known for its rich breeding potential and average annual rainfall of 900 millimeters. The property features varied landscapes including alluvial channels and flood plains, making it suitable for both cattle breeding and cropping.

Previously owned by Gina Rinehart, Aroona was sold in 2021 to the DiGiorgio family for $22.75 million. The property has undergone significant improvements, including investments in equipment and infrastructure. The Buratovich family’s focus appears to remain on cropping, as seen in their earlier acquisitions in the Northern Territory, which totaled $43 million in 2019.

The recent sale reflects the growing interest and investment in the Australian cattle sector by international entities, particularly those with established agricultural backgrounds.
