According to BBC News, Brighton have appointed Arturo Ruiz as their new women’s head coach following Dario Vidosic’s departure. Ruiz, 29, has signed a contract until 2029 and will join the Women’s Super League club once his work permit is finalised.

Vidosic stepped down a week before the new season, with Brighton saying he had left “to pursue a new opportunity”. The Australian joined from Melbourne City in 2024 and led Brighton to a fifth-place WSL finish in his first season, their best in the competition. During 2025-26, Brighton recorded wins over Arsenal and Manchester City and reached the Women’s FA Cup final for the first time.

Ruiz arrives from Real Sociedad, where he became head coach in July 2025. He previously held his first managerial role at Atletico Madrid, guiding the club to third place in Liga F and Women’s Champions League qualification, before later joining Granada CF. He also finished third in the league with Real Sociedad.

Brighton women’s and girls’ managing director Zoe Johnson said Ruiz stood out during the recruitment process and had “a proven track record of developing teams and individuals”. She said the club had confidence in his ability to move the team forward as preparations continue for the WSL season.

Brighton begin their campaign at home to Arsenal on Sunday, 6 September at 12:00 BST.
