On the evening of 10 September 2024, the Australian Chinese Soccer Association (ACSA) hosted its annual Presentation Dinner at the esteemed Crystal Seafood Restaurant in Strathfield. The event was a vibrant celebration of soccer excellence within the Chinese Australian community, bringing together players, officials, and community leaders for an unforgettable evening of recognition and camaraderie.

The evening began with the arrival of guests at 7:00 pm, followed by a welcome address from Mr. Kim Mok, Chairman of the ACSA, who set the tone for the event with words of gratitude and reflection on the successes of the past season. Mr. Mok’s speech highlighted the role of the ACSA in fostering unity and promoting the sport within the Australian Chinese community.

One of the highlights of the night was the appearance of the Guest of Honour, Mr. Thomson Chan Tam Sun (陳譚新先生), who was recognised for his contributions to the community, especially in the 1982 World Cup where he was a referree. Afterwards, a special presentation of souvenirs took place, during which Mr. Chan received a token of appreciation from ACSA representatives, symbolising the strong connection between the association and the broader community.

A group photo session followed, with ACSA committee members, club presidents, and special VIPs capturing the moment in a series of snapshots to commemorate the occasion. The formalities were followed by a delightful dinner, allowing attendees to enjoy fine dining while sharing in the evening’s spirit of celebration.

The night’s climax came with the highly anticipated trophies presentation for the ACSA Soccer League 2024. Anthony Sun, Honorary President of ACSA, took to the stage to present the awards. The awards for the AA Group were a particular highlight, with Golden Territory Youth securing third place, Happy Valley taking the second runner-up spot, and the champions MY FC earning the prestigious first-place title.

The 2024 Presentation Dinner was not only a time to honour the sporting achievements of the league’s top teams but also a testament to the enduring power of sport to bring together the community. The evening captured the essence of what the ACSA stands for—celebrating the game while fostering friendship, culture, and community spirit.

As the night drew to a close, it was evident that the Australian Chinese Soccer Association had once again provided an event that celebrated not just soccer, but the rich tapestry of diversity and togetherness that defines the community. Attendees left with a sense of pride and anticipation for what promises to be another thrilling season ahead.
