SYDNEY, Australia, 30 July 2026 – Fairfield City Council’s creativity, talent, and community spirit have been brought to life through the lens of talented local photographers and artists, with the winners of the 2026 Capture Fairfield Visual Arts & Photography Competition announced at this month’s Council Meeting.

Now in its ninth year, the competition has become a much-anticipated celebration of local creativity. Since launching in 2017 as a photography competition, it has continued to grow and evolve, expanding in 2019 to include visual arts and providing even more opportunities for local creatives to showcase their talents.

This year’s theme, Discover Fairfield: Festivals, Food, and Family Fun! invited entrants to capture the character of Fairfield City through artistic interpretations of its diverse people, places, traditions, and experiences.

“Each year, the Capture Fairfield Visual Arts & Photography Competition gives residents the opportunity to share their stories, perspectives, and experiences through art and photography,” Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone said.

“It allows people to express what Fairfield City means for them and celebrate the people and places that make our city special.

“This year was no exception, with every submission telling a unique story and capturing the spirit and character of our community. Together, the entries paint a wonderful picture of the city we are proud to call home.”

Winners were recognised across photography and visual arts categories, with awards presented to primary school, secondary school and adult entrants. The 2026 winners are:

Primary School

• 1st Place: Noah Alvardo – New Beginning (King Park Public School)
• 2nd Place: Fabian Koro – Silent Streets, Loud Sky (Bossley Park Public School)
• 3rd Place: Ariana Willis – My Friend (Bossley Park Public School)

Secondary School

• 1st Place: Jessica Blake – UNO! (Bonnyrigg High School)
• 2nd Place: Collin Trang – Festival Skies (Canley Vale High School)
• 3rd Place: Mya Tran – Behind the Scenes (Prairiewood High School)

• 1st Place: Thanh Phuong Pham – Proud to Belong
• 2nd Place: Alexandra Wilkinson – Spinning Tradition
• 3rd Place: Amy Luong – Open All Hours

Visual Arts

• 1st Place: Joshua Tarakjian – Reflections of Fairfield (Edensor Park Public School)
• 2nd Place: Penelope Pham – Family Trip (King Park Public School)
• 3rd Place: Ariya Tassopati – Mini Food (St Johns Park Public School)

Secondary School

• 1st Place: Zachary Tarakjian – A Festival Favourite (Cecil Hills High School)
• 2nd Place: Clara Nguyen – Under the Sky of Festivity (Sydney Girls High School)
• 3rd Place: Tiffany Zhao – The Asian Culture of Cabramatta (Fairfield High School)
