The World Lebanese Cultural Union (WLCU) has appointed Sydney-based Lebanese-Australian community leader Aya Hamdar as Vice President for Presidential Affairs, recognising her leadership, competence and continued service to Lebanese communities in Australia and around the world.
The appointment was confirmed through Decision No. 12/2026, issued in Beirut on 17 September 2026 and signed by the World President of the WLCU, Dr Abraham Constantin.
According to the official decision, Hamdar will serve as Vice President for Presidential Affairs within the Union’s Administrative Board. Her appointment takes effect immediately and follows the outcomes of the WLCU’s 20th World Congress, held on 12 December 2025.
An Important Progression in Leadership
The appointment represents an important progression in Hamdar’s leadership journey within the organisation.
In March 2026, she was appointed Advisor to the World President for Women’s Affairs, a position through which she supported the advancement and representation of women throughout the Lebanese diaspora.
Her new appointment supersedes that earlier decision and places her in a broader senior leadership role within the WLCU’s international administrative structure.
Earlier this year, the WLCU’s Oceania Continental Council welcomed Hamdar’s appointment as Advisor for Women’s Affairs, describing it as a well-deserved recognition of her competence, dedication and continued contribution to expatriate work.
The Council also expressed confidence in her ability to strengthen the organisation and enhance its positive impact among Lebanese communities worldwide.
A Record of Community Engagement
Hamdar has been actively involved in the Australian branch of the World Lebanese Cultural Union and has contributed to its community, cultural and organisational activities.
Her work has included representing the Union at community engagements, participating in discussions concerning Lebanon and its diaspora, and advocating for greater recognition of women’s contributions within community life.
She has also contributed her professional experience to Australia’s education sector, including supporting international students and assisting people seeking educational opportunities in Australia.
Through these various roles, Hamdar has developed a reputation for committed community service, professional leadership and a strong connection to Lebanon and the Lebanese diaspora.
