Arabic version: جوائز بافتا تعرض المفاجآت ولحظات المشاهير
This year’s Bafta Film Awards featured an array of surprises and notable appearances, including a special guest appearance by Paddington Bear. The event, held at the Royal Festival Hall, brought together A-list celebrities, including Timothée Chalamet and the Prince and Princess of Wales.
According to BBC News, the biggest shock of the night came when Robert Aramayo won the Best Actor award, beating the frontrunner Chalamet. Aramayo, who starred in “I Swear,” took home the trophy, while Chalamet’s film, “Marty Supreme,” which had garnered 11 nominations, left the ceremony without any wins.
The royal couple, Prince William and Catherine, made their first public appearance since Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s arrest. Prince William, who is the president of Bafta, shared his thoughts on various films during the event, describing the F1 movie as “fantastic” and noting his need for a “calm state” to watch “Hamnet.”
Paddington Bear also made a memorable entrance, humorously noting that he was the first presenter to get marmalade on a Bafta as he handed over the award for Best Children’s and Family Film.
Host Alan Cumming addressed the audience regarding strong language heard during the ceremony, which was attributed to involuntary tics associated with Tourette’s syndrome, ensuring the audience understood the context and offering apologies for any offense caused.
The event also included memorable performances, such as a song from the cast of “KPop Demon Hunters” and a tribute by Jessie Ware during the In Memoriam segment, honoring several notable figures from the film industry.
