Arabic version: امرأة بحرينية قتلت في هجوم صاروخي إيراني وتصاعد التوترات الإقليمية
A 29-year-old woman was killed and eight others injured in Bahrain when a residential building in the capital, Manama, was struck by an Iranian missile. This incident occurred as regional countries, including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates, intercepted drones and missiles launched from Iran. According to Al Jazeera, Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior confirmed the casualties on Tuesday.
The attack followed a prior incident where two individuals, including children, were wounded due to an Iranian drone strike on Sitra island, located south of the capital. Bahrain’s air defenses reported intercepting and destroying 102 missiles and 173 drones aimed at the kingdom, which the General Command of the Bahrain Defence Force labeled as “sinful Iranian aggression.”
On the same day, missile sirens were activated in Dubai, UAE, as the Saudi Ministry of Defense announced the destruction of two Iranian drones over its eastern oil-rich region. Kuwait’s National Guard also reported shooting down six drones targeting both northern and southern areas of the country.
These recent attacks are part of a broader pattern in which Iran has targeted energy infrastructure across the Gulf region, leading to significant disruptions in oil production. Bahrain’s Bapco oil refinery declared force majeure due to the strikes, indicating it could not fulfill some supply obligations. Meanwhile, Brent crude oil prices spiked significantly, raising concerns over the security of energy supplies from the Gulf.
U.S. President Donald Trump remarked that the conflict with Iran could be a “short excursion,” but also threatened a dramatic increase in military actions should Iran attempt to close the Strait of Hormuz. In response, Iranian officials asserted that Iran would dictate the duration of the conflict.
