According to ABC News, Australian rookie Travis Bazzana hit two home runs as the Cleveland Guardians secured a crucial 7-6 victory over the Chicago White Sox in their push for a Major League Baseball play-off berth.

Bazzana opened the scoring impactfully on Wednesday (AEST), hitting a solo homer in the first inning to give Cleveland a 3-0 lead. The all-star second baseman added another solo shot in the bottom of the sixth, when the Guardians were trailing 6-4. He finished two for four with two RBIs.

The result was Bazzana’s second multi-home-run game of his debut MLB season. The first Australian number one baseball draft pick has also recorded hits in each of his past five games.

Cleveland completed its comeback in the ninth inning when Brayan Rocchio hit a two-run double with two outs to score the winning runs. Rocchio went two for three, with a walk and two RBIs.

The Guardians have beaten the White Sox at home in their past two games and now sit half a game behind Chicago in the American League Central. Cleveland improved to 77-75 with 10 regular-season games remaining, while the White Sox are 77-74. The division winner will advance to the post-season, while the Guardians are also well placed for a wildcard berth if they finish second.
