According to ABC News, a 24-year-old school employee has been refused bail after police allegedly found devices containing child and animal abuse material at his home in far west New South Wales.

Sex Crimes Squad detectives arrested Aaron Hatch at a school in the Bourke Shire on Tuesday. He was taken to Bourke Police Station, where he was charged with two counts of possessing child abuse material, two counts of possessing animal sexual abuse material and one count of possessing animal crush material.

NSW Police said a report about the detection of child abuse material led investigators to an account holder in the state’s north west. Police said the arrest formed part of an ongoing investigation into the sexual abuse and exploitation of children on the internet and through telecommunications devices.

Mr Hatch remains in custody after bail was refused. He is scheduled to appear before Bourke Local Court in September. The NSW Department of Education has been contacted for comment.
