According to The Guardian, Brisbane led Adelaide 7.7 (49) to 5.4 (34) with 13 minutes remaining in the second quarter of their AFL semi-final at the Gabba. The do-or-die contest has a preliminary-final meeting with Hawthorn at stake.

The Lions made a blistering start, kicking five goals before Adelaide registered a score. Callum Ah Chee also collided with Adelaide key forward Riley Thilthorpe in the lead-up to Brisbane’s latest goal, with Thilthorpe leaving the ground; the report said the collision did not appear severe.

Will Ashcroft was prominent in Brisbane’s early surge, leading his side with eight disposals and recording game-high totals of four inside 50s and four score involvements. Brisbane ruck Sam Draper and Adelaide’s Lachlan McAndrew started in the centre, while the Lions sought to rebound after their previous-week loss to Sydney.
