According to Allafrica, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has scheduled Senegal’s appeal against the decision to strip the country of its Africa Cup of Nations title for 8 October.
The appeal concerns the AFCON 2025 final in Rabat on 18 January. Senegal won 1-0 through Pape Gueye’s extra-time goal, but the match was disrupted late in normal time after Morocco were awarded a penalty while the score was goalless. Many Senegal players left the pitch in protest, while some supporters attempted to enter the field. Play was halted for nearly 20 minutes before the Senegal team returned.
In March, the Confederation of African Football overturned the on-field result, declaring Senegal to have forfeited the final and awarding Morocco a 3-0 victory and the title.
CAS said the Senegalese Football Federation’s appeal was registered on 25 March 2026 and seeks to overturn CAF’s decision. The federation is asking CAS to declare Senegal the winners of AFCON 2025. The case also involves CAF and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation.
The hearing will be held behind closed doors at CAS headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland. CAS said it could not say when a final decision would be issued, but confirmed that it would not be delivered on the day of the hearing.
