On the evening of December 4, the CBCity Christmas Party brought together the community in a heartwarming celebration of unity and appreciation. Hosted by the Mayor of Canterbury Bankstown, Clr Bilal El-Hayek, the event took place from 6–9 pm at the Western Sydney University, Bankstown City Campus, and was attended by many esteemed organisations and community members.

The gathering was not only a festive occasion but also a sincere gesture from the Canterbury-Bankstown Council to express its gratitude to the numerous organisations and individuals that contribute immensely to the local community. Mayor El-Hayek praised the dedication and selflessness of those who make a difference every day, noting that the commitment of these groups and individuals truly embodies the spirit of Christmas.

Attendees enjoyed an evening of socialising, festive decorations, and entertainment, which helped reinforce the bonds within the CBCity community. The event served as an opportunity for members of various community groups to network, celebrate successes from the past year, and reaffirm their shared commitment to making Canterbury-Bankstown a vibrant, supportive place for all.

A Season for Giving: Christmas Toy Drive for Families in Need

As a testament to the spirit of giving, Council also hosted a Christmas toy drive to support Canterbury-Bankstown families in need. Guests brought along unwrapped gifts, including arts and craft supplies, beach towels, toys, books, stationery, and gift cards, placing them under the Christmas Tree. The response from attendees was generous, and the tree soon became surrounded by a wonderful assortment of gifts, which will be distributed to families in need throughout the community.

The Canterbury-Bankstown Council expressed its heartfelt thanks to everyone who donated and participated in this drive, reminding everyone of the true essence of Christmas—caring for those around us and ensuring no one feels left behind.

Mayor Bilal El-Hayek said, “This time of the year reminds us of the importance of giving and celebrating together. Seeing the overwhelming support for the toy drive reaffirms the compassion and generosity that exists within our community.”

The CBCity Christmas Party proved to be an incredible evening of appreciation, celebration, and community support, making it a memorable start to the festive season in Canterbury-Bankstown.
