During the regular meeting of the Lions Club of Canterbury Bankstown on the first Wednesday of every month, President Christine Nassif presided over a significant event. The meeting was held at Bankstown RSL on March 1, 2023, and was attended by distinguished guests, including Past District Governor Jennifer Touzel and Canterbury Bankstown Councilor Chris Cahill. The purpose of the gathering was to induct five new members into the club.
After opening the meeting at shortly past 7 PM, President Christine Nassif welcomed the guests and members and introduced the new members to be inducted. The ceremony was held on the stage of Banchetto by Highline and was led by PDG Jennifer Touzel. She administered the oath and declared the new members official Lions members. Each member was then presented with their official Lions pin and membership certificate.
The induction ceremony was a significant moment for the Lions Club of Canterbury Bankstown, as it demonstrated the club’s commitment to expanding its membership and furthering its impact in the community.
Following the induction, the meeting resumed, and the members discussed upcoming activities. The club announced its participation in the cleanup of Gillawarna Lake on March 4, in honor of Clean Up Australia Day. Other events on the horizon included the Lugarno Lions festival in March, the Barbecue at Bunnings Bankstown Airport in April, and the Oz Arab Media gala dinner on May 19.
President Nassif concluded the meeting by announcing the date of the next gathering, which will take place on the first Wednesday of April (April 5th) at 7 PM at Bankstown RSL. She also indicated that nominations for new club board members for the upcoming financial year would be announced and voted upon during the meeting.
