According to The Guardian, court-released CCTV shows Beau Lamarre-Condon ordering food at a McDonald’s drive-through in the early hours of 22 February 2024. He is seen arriving in a white van at McDonald’s Sutton Forest, paying for an order and collecting a paper bag and drink at the next window.
Lamarre-Condon, 31, is accused of fatally shooting Sydney couple Jesse Baird and Luke Davies with his police service weapon at Baird’s Paddington home on 19 February 2024. Prosecutors allege the van was used to dispose of the bodies. The Sutton Forest restaurant is about 30km from where the bodies were allegedly disposed of. Lamarre-Condon has pleaded not guilty to two murder counts and a charge of aggravated break and enter.
The footage is among exhibits released by the court detailing the officer’s movements in the days after the alleged double murder. The trial has been running for five weeks. CCTV previously played in the New South Wales supreme court showed him near Baird’s house carrying a bucket, withdrawing cash from various ATMs and buying cleaning items at Bunnings Alexandria.
Other footage showed Lamarre-Condon arriving at St Vincent’s hospital in Sydney at about 7.30am on 21 February 2024 for minor surgery. At Bunnings Rockdale, he was seen pushing a trolley and later buying gloves, a shovel, a wheelbarrow and quick-set concrete, among other items. Footage from Bunnings Goulburn later showed Lamarre-Condon and a friend buying an angle grinder and padlock. Baird and Davies’ bodies were discovered in nearby Bungonia a few days later.
The defence says the two men were accidentally shot when Lamarre-Condon acted in “self-defence”. Defence lawyer John Stratton SC said Lamarre-Condon then “panicked considerably”, cleaned up the scene and disposed of the bodies. The trial before Justice Natalie Adams continues.
