On the evening of June 30th, The Lemnos venue sparkled with colour, culture, and couture as it hosted the vibrant Stitch to Spotlight Fashion Show. Organised to highlight the achievements of Australian Palestinian and Muslim women in the fashion industry, the event was a remarkable celebration of multiculturalism, talent, and community spirit. Oz Arab Media was honoured to attend and cover the night’s festivities.
The evening commenced with a warm welcome from MC Rula Khalafawi, followed by an inspiring opening address by Jousmana ElJamal, President of the Sydney Community College Initiative (SCCI). Guests were treated to entrées as anticipation built for the main showcase.
The runway came alive with 16 gorgeous models of the Arabic community, featuring designs from Yasmina Jay The Label, Ozmaih, Dusty Pink, and Attire By R. Each collection reflected a unique blend of tradition and modern flair, celebrating the heritage and creativity of their designers.
Following the show’s first segment, guests enjoyed a luxury dinner service, allowing for networking and conversation among community leaders, creatives, and supporters.

The fashion show resumed, this time showcasing Fancy Me Dress Hire, Caftan House, and Miss Saryta. The evening continued to impress, with each design collection presenting a rich medley of culture, colour, and creativity.
Towards the end of the night, Dessert was served, followed by one of the most heartfelt moments of the evening—Stitch to Spotlight, an initiative showcasing student designs lovingly crafted in SCCI-run workshops. Participants were recognised with certificates, highlighting the community’s investment in nurturing the next generation of fashion talent.
The night concluded at with a lively Multicultural Parade, celebrating the diverse backgrounds of 12 different nationalities, whom were involved in the show. The event concluded with a thank-you speech by the MC, acknowledging the contributions of all who made the night possible.
